Further to the recent sad passing of Kathryn Burgess, an Executive Director of the Community and Advice and Law Service (CALS) and the East Midlands Money Advice (EMMA) CEO of the Money and Pensions Service Caroline Siarkiewicz said:
“On behalf of all of my MaPS colleagues I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Kathryn, who sadly passed away last week after a brief illness.
“Kathryn was an integral part of CALS for over twenty years and fully committed to their work and more recently to that of the EMMA project, who partner with MaPS on providing debt advice in the East Midlands region.
“Kathryn’s support for those who were disadvantaged by injustice or debt was clear to everyone who worked with her.
“As someone who has also worked extensively within the financial wellbeing and advisory partnerships environment I am fully aware of the huge contribution that Kathryn made and the real difference she made to so many people’s lives. Kathryn produced some outstanding work when she successfully negotiated for debt advice agencies to directly support those who needed help. It was a piece of work that highlighted not only her focus on people but her concern and care for them.
“Kathryn’s passion for her work and everyone who partnered with or directly benefitted from the advice provided by CALS and the EMMA project never dimmed and her legacy will continue for many years to come.”
